Debbie LugarWebinar Description
S.T.E.M. education and problem-based teaching and learning are currently at the forefront of current discussions relating to increasing the quality of education in our classrooms. This webinar introduces participants to the Real World Navy Challenge project developed by Chester County Intermediate Unit in conjunction with the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center, with support from the U.S. Navy. The project takes real world issues and develops problem-based scenarios based on those issues, for investigation in the classroom. Problems incorporate the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. Content is developed and shared with all Pennsylvania school districts at NO COST! Last year’s project was (coincidentally) a study of a nuclear power plant melt-down, which was supported by our constructing of an exact replica of a boiling water nuclear power plant in our virtual learning environment, NewWorlds. Join this 1-hr. webinar to get an idea of what Real World Navy Challenge is all about, and take a peek at our Scarboro South nuclear power plant!
Target Audience
Anyone interested in STEM education and problem based learning activities for the classroom.
